Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a debilitating mental disorder that can occur in people who have experienced a shocking, scary, or dangerous event. Nearly everyone will experience a range of reactions after trauma, yet most people recover from initial symptoms naturally. Those who continue to experience problems may be diagnosed with PTSD. While some risk factors are associated with increased risk of PTSD, resilience factors reduce the risk of PTSD. PTSD can be successfully treated using a combination of strategies. Listen as Dr Ferozali reviews the causes, signs and symptoms, risk factors and treatment of PTSD in today’s society.
