Graduates of the BS in Early Childhood Studies program will be prepared to:

  • Promote environments that are healthy, respectful, supportive, and challenging for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
  • Apply knowledge of child development to support positive outcomes for young children.
  • Develop respectful and responsive partnerships with families and communities to support the healthy development and learning of young children.
  • Differentiate practices to support a socially, culturally, and linguistically diverse population of young children and families, including those with exceptionalities.
  • Apply reflective, collaborative, and critical perspectives to professional practice that promote advocacy and social change.

Note on Teacher Licensure or Certification
This program does not lead to teacher licensure or certification. Teachers are advised to contact their individual school districts as to whether this program may qualify for salary advancement.

This program is not eligible for Title IV funds or any other federal financial aid loan programs. Students enrolling in this program will be required to pay the tuition themselves or seek private loan financing.

Walden University’s BS in Early Childhood Studies (Non-Licensure) program does not lead to initial teacher licensure or any other teaching credential.

This program requires two field experiences. Prior to participation in the field experiences, the student will be required to complete a criminal background check and fingerprinting and obtain specified immunizations, TB testing and liability insurance. It is the student’s responsibility to determine if these requirements would impact their ability to participate in the required field experiences.
